Gordon Groat - Devon Councillor
I made a commitment to the people of Devon to be accessible and provide them with my very best efforts.
Sometimes people approach me in public settings and I enjoy that! Let me know what you want from your Council - that's why I'm here and that's the basis of good government. It's supposed to be for the people!
I'm not hard to find, my phone number is public (0123) and I'm on Twitter, FaceBook, Flikr, and I publish a blog too. Lot's of questions can be answered in the blog, and people can provide their feedback there too! It's a two way street!
I believe in service and you can find me at the Lions Club or the Royal Canadian Legion (I'm an Army Veteran). I try to make it to all the public events possible, that's part of being accessible to the people.
No tax dollars were used in the construction of this website - and no trees sacrificed!
Leadership

Groat with The Right Honourable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada
My job is to work for the residents of Devon. That means advocating for municipalities when interacting with other levels of government.
Devon is a great place and I think it's important that leaders from Alberta, Canada, and across the World know that too!
Dedication

Groat can be seen driving the pace car for major events, like the Criterium races!
Dedication is more than showing up for for meetings. It's important to actually get out there and do the work.
From conducting scientific research to rolling up his sleeves and doing the work firsthand, Groat is out in front as a dedicated leader in the community.
Service

Duty, Honor, Country - these words mark his experience as an Army Veteran.
Being a Veteran of the Army is an important part of who Gordon is. He knows it is important to honor the contributions that many generations of Veterans have made to guarantee our democracy and freedom.
Groat will always be a strong supporter of our military.
